  • Diversity Makes Us Dynamic

In a global organization as expansive as Thomson Reuters, our people reflect the diversity of many backgrounds and perspectives. We are defined by our unique talents and insights, working inclusively to provide intelligent, integrated information to our customers. We move with agility to learn more about the people we serve so we can maximize their opportunities and ours.

    Learning and Development

    Learning and Development

Sharpen your skills, grow your career, expand your world view. We believe your development is about more than what you learn in the classroom. It’s a daily process that involves learning by doing. It involves a mutual exchange of knowledge and experience between you and your colleagues. It’s about mentors and networks throughout the company and around the world. It’s about access to the knowledge you need, when you need it, so you can learn and grow.

We encourage you to learn as you go -- when you need it and want it, according to your individual requirements. Sometimes this may involve classroom training, and we also make tailored e-learning available when you need it. But it’s also about day-to-day projects, client challenges and interaction with your co-workers. So you can put what you learn into action, right here, right now.

With support from your manager and colleagues, it’s you who drives your career growth, building on your experience with the many resources available to you. We’ll provide feedback and career development advice to help you achieve your potential, but you decide the direction you want your career to take.

Opportunities for growth are available and encouraged at all levels -- from recent graduates to senior executives. Some are available across the company, whereas others are tailored to businesses, functions, teams and individuals. Just a few of our learning resources include:

    • Leadership and management development programs
    • Technical skills training
    • Over 3,300 courses available on our e-learning system
    • Language learning through Rosetta Stone
    • Collaborative learning, using Web 2.0 technologies to share knowledge and solutions across boundaries
    Community Involvement

    Community Involvement

Our employees have an abundance of expertise and energy, and we share it with communities around the world. We volunteer our time and effort to support what we care about -- building houses, donating blood, helping after disasters, promoting the rights of others and much more. In total, the causes we support are as diverse as the people who work here.

As an organization, we don’t simply applaud this sort of involvement; we actively encourage it. Whether it’s the Thomson Reuters Foundation, which applies our business skills to the needs of communities globally; the annual paid day off we afford each employee to support a local community group; our annual Community Champions program in which we provide $150,000 in grants for 50 employee-nominated charities globally; or matching an individual’s charitable donation, we’re wholly committed to making sure all employees offer a valuable contribution both inside and outside our company.

    Employee Groups

    Employee Groups

Our range of Employee Groups (also called Affinity Groups) provides resources and networks to employees. They are employee-led, and offer peer-to-peer support, sharing common experiences and raising awareness of issues of concern, both locally and globally. They also help drive employee initiatives, such as fund-raisers, community outreach and career development, and are a great way to build connections across the company.

We have several established groups as you can see below and new groups are encouraged, should you not see your interest represented:

    • Women’s Network
    • African Employee Ancestry Network
    • Asian Employee Networks
    • Black Employee Network
    • Disability Employee Network
    • Latino Employee Network
    • Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Employee Network
    • Veterans Employee Network
