A technical career path
I brought three years of experience as a software engineer to my job at Thomson Reuters. I started here as a developer, doing trouble shooting and code for some enhancements, addressing issues involving logic, performance, capacity, crash and hanging. I also helped design the reproducible testing environment and figuring out ways to make this work better. After that, I participated in our Selective GT project to save a lot of bandwidth, and most recently I've worked in our Root Cause Analysis group. I am always part of a team trying to reach a goal.
Together, we make progress
I have worked on several large projects which need many team members to work together to make progress. I think it is important to be a positive force on the team and act as a good team player. You cannot complete a big project by yourself. I appreciate the chance to work tightly with my team members and try my best to support other teams.
On most projects, you need to communicate with different people in different areas. I continue to improve my communication skills and learn more about cultures around the world.
Environment of learning
“Thomson Reuters encourages diversity and respect for different people.”
There is a good learning atmosphere in the company that makes it enjoyable to work here.

Proactive approach to problem solving
I started as a quality assurance team leader and, after one year, was promoted to quality manager. During the past two years, I sharpened my skills for people management, release management and problem solving skills. My project management skills have also improved.
“At a large organization, it’s important to look beyond your specific role to improve on the process and efficiency by filling the gaps whenever possible.”
When there is an issue, I try not to complain and wait. Instead, I propose a solution and help resolve the problem.
A winning team
My team has achieved nearly a 99 percent automation rate for testing. This helped to accelerate the development cycles (which might last for months). I feel this contributed on a larger scale to the development transformation in our company.
My group really cares about working efficiency. We are encouraged to adjust and look for the most suitable methods of doing things. There are many interdependencies throughout the company, resulting in innovation and real results.
Creative execution
Thomson Reuters really cares about an employee's career development. It is challenging, but you see creativity, open minds and high execution every day from your peers.
